The Three Gorges Dam is one of the biggest hydropower-complex project in the world both in size and hydroelectric power generation, ranks as the key project for improvement and development of Yangtze River. The dam is 185 meters high and 2305 meters wide, claimed as the biggest dam in the world. This project will cost more than in fact any other single construction project in human history. Construction started in 1994 and is planned for completion by 2009. Construction on the dam itself was finished in May 2006. If it is a sunny day, you will be allowed to climb up to the top of the dam to enjoy the view of the whole project except on the imporant public holidays like National Holiday, International Labor Day and so on.
