After a one-day stopover in Beijing, the Olympic flame will set out on a global tour on Tuesday.
The torch will be passed by relay along 19 cities and five continents outside China, starting with Alma-Ata, capital of Kazakstan, and ending with Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The torch will then go to the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, before continuing its journey in the Chinese mainland.
On May 4th, starting in Sanya in south China's island province of Hainan, the torch will pass through 113 cities and regions in all 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions of the country.
The highlight of the event will be an attempt to take the flame to the world's highest mountain peak, Mount Qomolangma, better know in the West as Mount Everest.
