The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games says all the Olympic venues are safe and the Summer Games will not be affected by Monday's earthquake.
According to Li Zhanjun, director of the Beijing Olympic Media Center, all the Olympic arenas are designed to withstand earthquake up to 8.0 magnitude. He said they were completely unaffected by the earthquake.
Li Zhanjun also said the earthquake will not affect the torch relay. The Beijing Olympic torch will reach Sichuan on June 15th and pass through seven cities including its provincial capital Chengdu on June 18th. Li said the torch relay would not be halted.
