8 two-year-old pandas will leave their hometown in southwest China for Beijing next month. They will be on display at the Beijing Zoo to entertain tourists coming to China for the Olympic Games in August.

The giant pandas were selected by Internet vote from 16 candidates born in the Wolong-based China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Sichuan Province.

They will stay at the Beijing Zoo until November, and are expected to attract more than six million tourists from home and abroad during the six-month show. The zoo has already started upgrading its facilities to accommodate the newcomers.
