The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is  located north of lijiang basin, about 15 kilometers from the old town of Lijiang, with her northern piedmont learning against the Jinsha River. The mountain is made up of thirteen peaks in a north-south row running nearly 35 kilometers with an east-wide width of some 25 kilometers. The peaks are capped with permanent snow, like a row of skyscraping jade columns. The highest peak Shanzidou that is 5,596 mters high. It is the modern maritime glacier with the Northern Hemisphere.


The Yufeng Temple lies at the southern foot of Xueshan Hill that is about 15 kilometers northward from the old town of Lijiang. The temple was built during the reign of Kangxi in the Qing dynasty. It had nine courtyards at its height, but there are left only the main hall plus two courtyards. Inside the temple are thriving pines and cypresses, running steams, and lovely ponds. In and around the temple are many rare sorts of flowers, such as camellia, cherry blossom, flower of banana shrub, and flower of yulan magnolia. There is a camellia tree in the temple that is famous near and far since it is more than 300 years old so far and it bears more than 20,000 flowers over about a hundred days from February to May each year, earning itself the fame of "the greatest camellia in the world".
