Tours Introduce:This is a spectacular musical night performance on the beautiful Li River (Lijiang) of GuangXi Province in China. Yes, it's performed on the water of a real river - at The Lijiang Landscape Theater! The musical, Impression Liu SanJie, celebrates the lives of the local people with their folk stories, ceremonies, songs and music.
The performance was directed by renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou who was known for directing movies such as "Raise The Red Latens", "Hero", and "The House of Flying Daggers" etc, he has won numerous cinema awards in Aisa and Europe as well as in north America. Several of his films were nominated for Oscar best foreign films. He also directed an acclaimed version of the music opera, Puccini's Turandot, at the Forbidden City, Beijing, with Zubin Mehta as conductor. As the best director in China today, Zhang is chosen to direct the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The musical conductior/director for Impression Liu Sanjie is He Xuntian, the composer who worked with Dadawa.
The Lijiang Landscape Theater is located at the junction of Li River and TianJiaHe River facing the famous Shutong Hill across the river. As an audience, you can enjoy the performance on a stage stretched for 2 kilometers along the Li River with its angled view for 2600 audiences. All lights and sound system are hidden by and integrated with the nature settings.
The production had a budget of 200 million yuan (US$24 million), 600 actors performing, and it took 5 years to complete. More than 1.1 millions of people so far have watched the show since its debut in Oct., 2003. If you go to China and visit GuiLin, don't miss it.
