fubo hill

Located in the northeast of the city of Guilin the Wave-subduing Hill is a peak standing prettily and solitarily by the riverside with half of it jutting into the river and the rest half on the land. It is 63 meters high above the sea level. The hill is a well-known scenic attraction with a beautiful hill and charming waves. Obstructed by the hill the emerald water in the Li River has formed a deep pool here, known as “Taming Wave Pool”. In normal times the water here is smooth and the pool looks emerald green and clear. There is a small garden at the southern foot of the hill and planted here are thickets of bamboo, palm trees and flowers, presenting a quiet and amiable environment.

At the western foot of the hill there is cave near the river which called Pear-returning cave. Legend goes that: once an old dragon often came to the cave to toy with a big pearl. One day while he was sleeping, a little boy saw the pear, he loved it so much and then he took it away. After that, when he was told that the dragon was very sad for him lost his pearl, he returned the Peal back. Hence the name. In the cave, there hangs from the ceiling a rock, which nearly touches the ground. It is called Sword Testing Stone. It is said that once the rock touch the ground, then there would appear a No.1 scholar.
