The legal currency used in China is called Renminbi (RMB or CNY), which is issued and controlled solely by the People's Bank of China. RMB exchange rates are decided by the People's Bank of China and issued by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, the latter exercising the functions and powers of exchange control.
The monetary unit of RMB: Yuan (also called “Kuai”), Jiao (some times called "Mao " ) and Fen. 1 Yuan(Kuai) = 10 Jiao (Mao); 1 Jiao = 10 Fen.
