Applications are no longer being accepted for Beijing Olympic and Paralympic games volunteers.
BOCOG received more than one million applications. However, people can still still apply to become City Volunteers. This group will provide information services outside of the Olympic stadiums and at key areas in the Chinese capital.
BOCOG has so far recruited around 35,000 people as potential candidates to volunteer during the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nearly one third of them have rehearsed their roles at Good Luck Beijing events---the test-run for the upcoming Olympics.
BOCOG says it will need a total of 100,000 volunteers. Their services will include reception, language interpretation and spectator assistance.
A volunteer for Good Luck Beijing said, "Most spectators come and ask me about their seats, the franchise store, and where the bathroom is."
BOCOG says people can still apply to become a city volunteer. Detailed information on selection criteria can be found on the official website of BOCOG.
