Geography and Topography

China extends about 5500km from north to south, sponing over 49 latitudes from the center of the Heilongjiang River north of the town of Mohe to the Zengmu Reef at the southernmost tip of the Nansha Island. From west to east, the nation measures some 5200km, stretching from the Pamirs to the confluence of the Heilongjiang and Wusuli rivers, with a time difference of over four hours.

China has a land boundary of some 22,800km, neighboring in the south. India,Bhutan, Sikkim and Nepal in the southwest.. Bakistan and Afganistan toward the west, Russia, Kazakstan, Kirghizia and Tajikstan toward the northwest and Mongolia toward the philippines beyond the south China sea.

Topography

Towering mountain basins of different sizes, undulating plateaus and hills and flat and fertile plains are composed of the complex topography of China. As is known to all, China is rich in water because there are more than 1500 rivers, most of which stem from the Qinahai-Tibet plateau and each drains 1000sqkm or larger areas.

Yangtze, Yellow, Pearl rivers are famous in China. Yangtze river is 6300km long and it is the largest river in china. Twisted in the green mountain and deep valleys with beautiful scenery, the Yangtze is a transportation artery linking west and east, whose navigation benefit from excellent natural channels. It will be a wonderful experience to join the Yangtze river cruise!

The Yellow river rank the second largest river in China, with a total length of 5464km.. It was one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization. While the Pearl only 2214km long, is an important river in south China.

In China, there are numerous lakes, which can be categorized as freshwater lakes and saltwater. Poyang, Dongting, Taihu and Hongze are freshwater lakes; while Qinghai, Namtco and Silingco are belong to the latter one.
